St Paul's Church weekend at Brunel Manor
On our first whole church weekend we enjoyed the hospitality of Brunel Manor, near Torquay. The weather was fine, beaches were explored and the Reverends Jane and Charles Burgess presented some thought provoking teaching. The good weather meant that half the group also got out on walks.
June 25 Presentation of cheque to the Pilsdon Community
The Lent Project for the Abbey raised money for the Pilsdon Community near Bridport, which cares for people in crisis in a Christian Community. Cathie Pinsent, who was a member of St Paul's but who is now one of the Pilsdon Community members, received the cheque from David Smart who is chairman of Faith In Action Committee for Sherborne Abbey.
June 10 St Paul's Fun Day
The rain held off while St Paul's opened its doors to the neighbourhood.
The bouncy castle and garden quoits were very popular, as well as face painting and duck catching.
Inside the church there was a conjuring show, a café and crafts, which included making cards for Father's Day. And there were free hot dogs for everyone.
And the Vicar had fun too.
Licensing Service 21 May 2017
We welcomed Archdeacon Paul Taylor to our service at St Pauls @ the Gryphon to licence Linda Rowe as a Licenced Lay Minister. Linda had previously been an LLM in the Diocese of Winchester. He also commissioned four members of our congregation who have completed the Diocesan Lay Pastoral Assistant course.
Afterwards about 50 members of the church celebrated with a bring and share lunch at St Paul's Church.
